[opensuse] What happened to /pub/people/choeger?
It looks like choeger has disappeared from ftp.suse.com/people - That's a real shame, because he maintained various mail/antispam packages for about 7 different suse distros - anybody know who took over for him, or is his work in limbo? That's a lot of what I was looking for, thanks for the heads up. Joe --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

The main thing is, choeger had up-to-date suse spamassassin packages - for instance he had v 3.10 packaged back when suse was still shipping v 2.64. But the lack of the separate sa packages isn't as big a problem at this point, since the factory version of spamassassin now seems fairly up-to-date. It would make sense to have it all in one place though, and if I could suggest an enhancement, it would be to also package maia mailguard, which is a very capable FOSS enterprise-level spam quarantine management solution. Do you have a URL handy? Googling only led me to mailguard, a managed email service, and no downloadable FLOSS packages. /Per Jessen, Zürich --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

http://www.maiamailguard.com/ http://www.maiamailguard.com/license.php I'm not sure if the licence qualifies as "free software" - you are not allowed to remove the logo (or have to pay money), so it's not completely free IMHO. See also http://www.dur.ac.uk/andrew.saunders/14th-20th_Feb.html (search for "maia") for license discussion in debian-legal. Have you done any comparisons of dspam vs spamassassin? From what I've heard, dspam is less resource intensive and can be very accurate. However the folks here who were looking at dspam were unable to get it trained in a timely manner, noting that it seemed somewhat temperamental and too much like magic. AFAIK, dspam is based on crm114 and therefore requires learning. It is definitely less resource intensive than spamassassin, but the accuracy is only available given proper training.

There is a lot of magic in crm114 :-) We use it for spam-categorisation. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - managed anti-spam and anti-virus solution. I have been using Anti-SPAM Proxy Server http://ASSP.sourceforge.net for several years now for several companies. And the best thing about it is that it requires zero maintenance, cross platform, and good results. No magic, easily understandable architecture and features. Worth a look if anybody is evaluating solutions.
