[SLE] Viewing Attached Email Images
For those discussing the heat, check this out - http://www.perfectreign.com/?q=node/15 - saw that temp in the car near the California / Arizona border on the way back from vacation Saturday*. In any case, I had sent my mother a few pictures of my trip (including this one) as attachments. When she got them, she indicated they were simply "grey." I went over yesterday to see what was happening. She gets the attachments in Kmail just fine. When double-clicking, she has the option to save or open in Gwenview. When opening in gwenview, the images are very small. Double-clicking on the "small" image gets only a grey screen with no mouse or keyboard input. (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC works, though.) I switched the "open" program for jpeg files to GIMP on her system, and this works, except that the images now have to wait for GIMP to open, which takes about twenty seconds. Is there a better viewer solution? She's still on 9.2 for the moment. *For those who haven't converted to fahrenheit yet, the temp in the picture equals about 52 degrees celsius. -- Kai Ponte www.perfectreign.com -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

When i used 9.x i used kview, not gwenview, as my image viewer. IIRC, it loaded faster than gwenview does, and i never had any problems using it from kmail. Give kview a try. -- ----- stephan@s11n.net http://s11n.net "...pleasure is a grace and is not obedient to the commands of the will." -- Alan W. Watts

My system uses kuickshow when opening kmail image attachments. It works great. Perhaps have a look at it as well. -------------- Yes, but it's a dry heat! :-) Dry Heat, wet heat, the choice is really not so wide, would you prefer to be boiled, or fried ? Ogden Nash IIRC . apologies if it's mis-quoted or wrongly attributed. I heard it too many years ago to be blamed for minor errors. -- j

Well, here in San Diego it has been unusually humid. Yes we live near the ocean but lately I feel as if I'm back in Madsion, WI where "heat index" was an essential part of figuring out just how hot it "felt" like. Now I'm just waiting for the boardwalk to be underwater - btw, how long does it take the ice shelf to melt anyway :P Cheers, Curtis - -- Spammers Beware: Tresspassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again!
