[opensuse] Where to get Firefox 5?
Hi fellow foxers; Does anyone know where I can get an rpm for the REAL Firefox 5? Every link I've followed brings me FF 6 even when the rpm name says it's ver 5. Want to revert back to version 5. Don't like the newer ones. Thanks, Tom -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks all for the replies. Found an add-on called "compatibility assistant" that allows the custom toolbar to be used with FF versions 6 & 7. Problem solved. Not sure what the REAL Firefox 5 is but for example for openSUSE 11.4 there are packages available here: http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/rpm/i586/MozillaFirefox-5.0-0.4.1.i... http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/rpm/x86_64/MozillaFirefox-5.0-0.4.1... And I'm wondering what the difference is between 5 and 7... from a UI perspective, they are almost identical. If "you" like 5, then how can you tell you're using 6 or 7 short of clicking Help > About? And by the fact that add-ons that work in FF 5 don't work in later versions. Oh.. hadn't noticed... all the addons I use work fine. Have you contacted the addon developer about this? I've discovered that in almost all cases it's a pretty simple tweak to get an addon working in 6 and 7 if it worked in 5... it's usually just a case of setting the max version variable. Thank all of you for the replies. Unfortunately none of the suggestions are what I need. Although the package files were named with a version of 5, the unpacked/installed programs are all version 6+, not 5. The url:http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/, under the 5.0.1 sub-directory, has ONLY checksums, not installable packages. I'm particularly wanting version 5 so I can use my custom toolbar buttons which I use extensively. But thanks for taking the time to respond. if you use yast, you should be able to click on the desired version you want, just highlight "firefox", then click on the version tab below, that should bring out the available versions, then you chose what you want. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No. I have no idea what you are doing but above links point to the version 5 and I'm _absolutely_ sure it is version 5. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Just in case you forgot you need to disable FF6 before pulling FF5. It doesn't let you make a downgrade if you have the latest version installed.
