Hello! I've installed Postgress from SuSE 6.1 CDs. During bootup I SOMETIMES receive a message telling, that service starting failed. Even if it says 'failed' Postgress service is working, because I can connect to any database, etc. Logs do not contain anything unusual. Even if it's not a real problem it doesn't look nice + I'm curious what's the matter. Could you help me with this problem? You can sefaly ignore it. This was a bug in the startproc program in 6.1 and has been fixed by now. Sometimes daemons take a while to start up (squid is another candidate) and startproc assumes that the startup failed after a timeout period that is shorter that the startup time period.
