Not much, I'm afraid. No part of the actual office areas is open to the public so the only part you'd get to see would be the entrance area and I doubt that that would be worth the trip from Munich to Nuremberg. Nuremberg on the other hand would be worth a trip but I guess so are quite a few places notably nearer to Munich. Well, only if you know someone from the head office personally that you
could visit. They usually don't do guided tours of the office building :)
And the building itself is not that spectacular to make the trip to
Nuernberg. However, Nuernberg has a nice old city center and a castle that
are worth visiting.

Not to mention the oldest brathaus in Bavaria and the Reichsparteitagsgelaende (if you like that sort of thing). -- -ckm

John - -- John, if this is your first trip to Munich and you are interested in things technical, like planes, trains, musical instruments, mines, boats, bridges and all that sort of thing, go see the Technical Museum. Give it a couple of days cause it is that big!
Once upon a time you could climb on one of the first jet airplanes, but the nuts of the world have stopped that all over the world. Still, it is one of the most interesting museums of the world, in my opinion. Richard

Oh ya, the one often seen in the films of the period, with the massive rallies and parades. Big speech scenes, etc... Interesting. Cheers, Curtis.
Spent 5 1/2 years in the Munich area out of a total of 9 1/2 years in Germany. Left in 1984 but been back for a few short trips in the meantime. Still have some dear friends there that I keep in contact with. Freistaat Bayern is the best area of Germany. You can go to Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, and many others from Munich. The people a great as long as you are not an "Ugly American". There is a lot of history, outside of Hitler, in Germany. King Ludwig, the salt mines near Saltzburg where they have been mining salt for 8,000 years, Neuschwangau, Valhalla, and so much to experience it is impossible to see all. I will be going there again with my wife, who is also German, and two other couples in July. Her nickname is one of the most common names in Linux, Lilo, short of Liselotte. Hope you have a great time. Art On Sat, 2003-05-10 at 15:29, Ron Cordell wrote:

Art
Art, thanks for the wonderful information! I didn't mean to turn the SLE list into a tourist info stop, but this is definitely appreciated. My wife and I are doing a crash course in German before we head out. We will arrive in Stuttgart and end up in Munich for the Laser and Optics European Conference. Looking forward to it. -ronc -- 9:09pm up 2 days 0:23, 2 users, load average: 0.19, 0.22, 0.24
