[SuSE Linux] kdm login parameters
Since I just got interested in using graphical logins, I am curious how to substitute gdm for xdm or getting rid of the xmessage status window in kdm. Where is the graphical login program conf file located for kdm? How does one substitute gdm for xdm? Thanks a lot!! -- Michael Perry mperry@znet.com ----------------- -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/ and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html

to configure kdm, look at /opt/kde/share/config/kdmrc
to launch gdm, do a : chown gdm:shadow /var/lib/gdm
to configure it, look at /opt/gnome/etc/gdm/gdm.conf
to make gdm your default login, look at /etc/rc.config and change the
value of DISPLAY_MANAGER to : DISPLAY_MANAGER="gdm" (I didn't try but it
must work)
maybe you can supress Xconsole from login with running XDMConfig (under
X + a WM).
If not, look at /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0 and comment the last 4
lines.
wow, quite proud of me this time ;)
