How does one substitute gdm for xdm? How does > one substitute gdm for xdm? >=20 > Thanks a lot!! >=20 > -- to configure kdm, look at /opt/kde/share/config/kdmrc to launch gdm, do a : chown gdm:shadow /var/lib/gdm to configure it, look at /opt/gnome/etc/gdm/gdm.conf to make gdm your default login, look at /etc/rc.config and change the value of DISPLAY_MANAGER to : DISPLAY_MANAGER=3D"gdm" (I didn't try but it must work) maybe you can supress Xconsole from login with running XDMConfig (under X + a WM).
