Anyone using BloGTK for blogging?
I am having some trouble getting it installed on my SUSE 9.0 box. I've put the requirements for the program (per the site http://www.blogtk.sourceforge.net) at the bottom of this post. The only thing I can't find on my system (or synaptic) is Python-Glade2 (I have Glade2). I get the following output when I try to install the Makefile: linux:/home/trey/BloGTK-0.8-5 # make install install -m 755 -d `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/bin `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/lib/blogtk `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/blogtk `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/applications `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/pixmaps /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 755 src/* `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/lib/blogtk /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 644 share/* `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/blogtk /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 644 data/blogtk-icon.svgz `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/pixmaps /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 644 data/blogtk.desktop `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/applications /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found ln -s `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/lib/blogtk/BloGTK.py `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/bin/BloGTK /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found chmod +x `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/bin/BloGTK /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found linux:/home/trey/BloGTK-0.8-5 # make install install -m 755 -d `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/bin `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/lib/blogtk `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/blogtk `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/applications `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/pixmaps /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 755 src/* `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/lib/blogtk /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 644 share/* `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/blogtk /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 644 data/blogtk-icon.svgz `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/pixmaps /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found install -m 644 data/blogtk.desktop `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/share/applications /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found ln -s `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/lib/blogtk/BloGTK.py `pkg-config libgnome-2.0 --variable=prefix || echo /usr`/bin/BloGTK /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: line 1: pkg-config: command not found ln: `/usr/bin/BloGTK': File exists make: *** [install] Error 1 There's no real forum or support that I can see on the on the site, so this was a 'stab in the dark' to see if any other SUSE users had installed it. * GTK2 2.2 or higher. * Python 2.2 or higher * PyGTK2 1.99 or higher * Python-Glade2 1.99 or higher -- Cheers, Trey --- men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth --more than ruin --more even than death. thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man. --bertrand russell

_numpy is part of numeric python: an rpm comes with suse linux. Sounds like you need to install it. Henry Harpending

Thanks. I installed that package and performed the 'make install.' I did not see any error messages, so I ran /usr/bin/BloGTK as a normal user and got the following output: trey@linux:~/BloGTK-0.8-5> /usr/bin/BloGTK Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/BloGTK", line 12, in ? import gtkhtml2 ImportError: No module named gtkhtml2 I have gtkhtml2 installed per synaptic (verion 3.0.9-100.SuSE.ulb.1). -- Cheers, Trey --- At a given moment I open my eyes and exist. I have gtkhtml2 installed per synaptic (verion 3.0.9-100.SuSE.ulb.1).
The import error refers to a python module called gtkhtml2, not the actual lib. You need to have python-gnome installed.
ImportError: No module named gtkhtml2 I have gtkhtml2 installed per synaptic (verion 3.0.9-100.SuSE.ulb.1).
This will be a Python module for gtkhtml2, not sure where you'd get it from, but I suspect it might need to link against libgtkhtml, not gtkhtml2... -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0).
