Hi all Can't get K3b to work. Won't let me add my cdrecorder in setup. When I send it to /dev/cdrecorder it just complains that it can't find an additional device there. Any ideas people? -- John Willby Registered Linux user number 321644 ICQ: 92791912 Jabber: vicarofwibley@jabber.org YIM: vicarofwibley Linux is like a wigwam - No Gates, no Windows, Apache inside. 10:37am up 14:28, 3 users, load average: 0.15, 0.28, 0.19

Probably you need to set "hdc=ide-scsi" in your grub boot-options. "hdc" being your current cdrecorder-device. Then you can talk to the recorder as /dev/sr0. Helped in my setup.

Really? I've never had to put anything like that in grub.conf? I have however found out that you have to go into YaST and add links in the hardware settings. Which seems to have got one of the writers to be recognised by K3b pity its not the one I want to use :-( :-) John -- John Willby Registered Linux user number 321644 ICQ: 92791912 Jabber: vicarofwibley@jabber.org YIM: vicarofwibley Linux is like a wigwam - No Gates, no Windows, Apache inside. 1:35pm up 17:25, 3 users, load average: 0.10, 0.05, 0.01

Sorted. Once I have set the links I then needed to edit out some old links in /etc/fstab and then logback in and all is well. The good think with Linux is that thankfully once its setup it works forever and you don't have to touch it again. On to my next problem. -- John Willby Registered Linux user number 321644 ICQ: 92791912 Jabber: vicarofwibley@jabber.org YIM: vicarofwibley Linux is like a wigwam - No Gates, no Windows, Apache inside. 2:04pm up 17:54, 3 users, load average: 0.35, 0.36, 0.17

Do you still need to do this even if the CD_Recorder is a SCSI one and not an IDE? -- John Willby Registered Linux user number 321644 ICQ: 92791912 Jabber: vicarofwibley@jabber.org YIM: vicarofwibley Linux is like a wigwam - No Gates, no Windows, Apache inside. 4:50pm up 1 day 8:28, 3 users, load average: 1.09, 1.00, 0.69
