add --nodeps to your rpm -i and it will be fine. (as mentioned in the instructions, but I got it wrong as well....) On Thursday 11 September 2003 1:46 pm, Erik Jakobsen wrote:

I have a question. Why use that old crusty looking GTK1 app that they've barely updated in 3 years. Why not use GAIM which does AIM, Yahoo!, ICQ and almost every other protocal. It works great...I've not had a problem talking to anyone I know on the various IM networks and it's a very nice looking, full featured client. Give it a look. Best place to get the most up to date package is usr-local-bin.org. Cheers! -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

I got that idea from another one, and installed it without any problems. But there seems to be problems, maybe to my firewall. I dont know if its right. If I want to chat, a window appers telling, "You are not currently signed on with any protocols that have the ability to chat". What I have done is to set up Yahoo. -- Med venlig hilsen - Best regards. Erik Jakobsen - eja@urbakken.dk. Licensed radioamateur with the callsign OZ4KK. SuSE Linux 8.2 Proff. Why change something that works? But what I was looking for originally was the voice and video link that yahoo gives under that other OS. Any advice on what I should use to voice chat to friends (who will be on M$). Video optional extra. David

I use the tarball. From the instructions for that, you can make a link from /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.2 -> /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.6, and everything works fine. dk

Sorry about the delayed response but I've never joined any of the channels. Has to do with character translation; IOW above my head. Someone else with proper knowledge will pop in. With luck, perhaps it is only for the one location. I would experiment more before jumping ship. gud luk, -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org
