Search on google for synaptic and apt-get. Ken
Bradley, I'm running SuSE 8.2 with apt-get & Synaptic. You must get and install both for Synaptic to work. Following are direct links for you to download the two RPMs: apt-get: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/apt-0.5.4/RPMS.tested/apt-0.5.4cnc9-1cl.i386.... Synaptic: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/apt-0.5.4/RPMS.tested/synaptic-0.26-rb1.i386.... Rick On Sat, 2003-06-07 at 16:58, Bradley D. Pierson wrote:

Synaptic .26-rb1 is the only one I have been able to get to work with SuSE. Apt 0.5.4cnc9-1cl works with Synaptic 0.26. Synaptic has some quirks but will do a fairly decent job. One thing I had to do to get it to work reliably is to start it with:kdesu /usr/bin/synaptic. If it starts and dies immediately you might want to fire up the command line and do ' apt-get update' then restart Synaptic. I havent had much luck getting help on synaptic beyond the ver 26 as the developers are using debian or rh and dont really seem to care about making it universal. One other gotcha you need to watch out for is sometimes it will download the files, start the Upgrade then stop with an error and no matter what you do you cant get past that error. UNLESS you then do each file upgrade individually. the good ones will go in and the one showstopper will give you the error again. Then you can just ignore that one or try to figure out what is wrong. HTH, Richard
