On the ThinkPad R61, there is a button on the extreme left of the armrest panel facing towards you-this toggles wireless radio on/off. Perhaps this is what you were looking for? YMMV, but look for a similar button in your model of TP. I've got a couple of R51e models, and I don't see any such button. I think the switch on/off wifi is done with the blue Fn+<otherkey>. Besides, the wifi is working fine, it's only the indicator that isn't on. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (2.6°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It depends which wireless driver you are using. OTOMH for intel 3945 hardware on openSUSE and I may recall incorrectly... < 11.0 = wireless LED always off 11.0 = wireless LED on when active, flashes during a scan 11.1 = wireless LED on when active, flashes on transmit Will

Blue on/off Fn Key + also, (on R61, not sure about R51) there is a Radio Button to toggle Wireless on/off (see first image under "Input/Output Ports" at http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3814). Are you able to connect through the wirless card?, else it may only be a LED problem. In addition, Wireless Card is controlled by BIOS, which one can access through ThinkVantage at boot. Try checking/changing the BIOS setting as well. This is for the R61 TP, as I said earlier your settings may be different. If you have the ThinkVantage Manual installed, it may help in troubleshooting the wireless card problem. Definitely don't have anything like that.

Yeah, the wifi is fine, it's only the LED indicator. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.2°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If it does not work with 11.1 or factory, we're not going to fix such things for in old code bases anymore, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform / openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
