Hi, In my suse 8.2 system antivir log is in /var/log/antivir.log I guess that you have same problem that I had : Tue Nov 11 19:00:43 2003: Error: new updates will not work with current license Tue Nov 11 19:00:43 2003: AntiVir FAILED to update itself That means that license key /usr/lib/AntiVir/hbedv.key is no longer valid. You can get new key from http://www.hbedv.com . Select 'prices' from menu on left and look at very bottom of that page. There is a link to registration form. 12 month licence is free for private, non-commercial use. I got new key and update works again. regards, Jari

The "funny" thing is that first it downloads the updates, then it says they can not be installed - instead of checking first thing; clumsy programming: ---------------- nimrodel:/usr/lib/AntiVir # antivir --update AntiVir / Linux Version 2.0.6-10 Copyright (C) 1994-2002 by H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH. I suggest you update the actual AntiVir program itself. I had this problem a little while back and was solved by downloading a newer version of the program. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------

The "--update" updates both the engine and the data file - but only if the key is valid. I renewed my registration and it worked directly. As a bonus, the key allows searching inside compressed files. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
