Hi, I have never installed the madwifi driver, but if you accept that my advice may be wrong, I will give it a shot. 1. Take the madwifi driver that you downloaded and move it to the trash bin, then delete it. Do this for the downloaded file and all the extracted parts on your desktop, or wherever they are. I am doing this just to make sure that if it is the wrong driver, it won't interfere with the installation by mistake. My instructions are for a 32 bit system, as that is what I think that you have installed on your computer. If you have installed a 64 bit system, these won't be the correct instructions. 2. Your reply says that you have Linux Kernel 2.6.22.5-31-default. Please follow the steps I will list below. a. Paste this hyperlink in your firefox browser and go to this page: http://madwifi.org/suse/10.3/i586/ b. On this page look for the following link to this file: http://madwifi.org/suse/10.3/i586/madwifi-kmp-default-0.9.3.3_2.6.22.16_0.2-... Click on that link in the list and download the file c. On your desktop, there should now be a new icon for a rpm titled madwifi-kmp-default...i.586.rpm If there is, you have successfully downloaded the rpm. Now, look on the bottom left of your screen, and find the little house icon, and click on it. In the konqueror browser that opens, find the Desktop icon and click on it. In the browser screen showing the Desktop, find the madwifi-kmp...i.586.rpm, and click on it. When that browser screen opens, there will be a button that says something like "Install with Yast". Click on that button. Shortly afterwards, there will be a popup window asking for your root password. Type in your password and hit enter. Yast will now install the madwifi-kmp...i.586.rpm for you. After that finishes, you are ready for the next step. 3. Go back to the firefox browser window that is open to this page http://madwifi.org/suse/10.3/i586/ a. Find the madwifi-0.9.3.3-0.1.i586.rpm file in the list, and click on it to download the file. There should be a new rpm icon on your desktop, titled madwifi-0.9.3...i586.rpm If there is, you have successfully downloaded the rpm. b. Find the little house icon on the bottom left of the screen, and click on it. In the Konqueror browser that opens up, find the desktop icon and click on it. In the next screen, find the icon titled madwifi-0.9.3.3-0.1.i586.rpm, and click on it. In the next screen that opens up, there should be a button that says something like "Install with Yast" Click on that button. Another window will popup asking for your root password, type it in and hit enter. Yast will install the rpm for you. 4. When that is finished installing, perform the following: a. Click on the Suse menu (lizard icon) on the lower left of the screen. b. Click on the computer tab c. At the top of the computer tab, find Administrator settings (Yast), and click on it. A little window will popup asking for your root password, type it in and hit enter. d. A window will open up, and find the software tab, then software management. Click on software management. e. When the software management page opens up, find a box titled search. In this box type knetworkmanager and hit search. f. When it finishes searching find a title on the right saying NetworkManager-kde Check the box so that you designate it for installation. g. On the bottom right find a button marked Accept, click on that button. Yast will install knetworkmanager for you. h. When that is finished, open up the Suse menu on the lower left. Find the applications tab, and scroll the list until you find systems, and click on it. i. In the system list find desktop applications and click on it. j. In the desktop applications, find knetworkmanager. Click and drag it to the desktop. A little dropdown menu will open up, and on that list click on "copy here". 5. Restart the computer. 6. Your wifi should work now. To find wireless networks, click on the knetwork manager. A little icon should show up in the tray on the lower right of the desktop. Right click on it to find the available networks, and left click on the network that you desire to connect with. Follow prompts for passwords, etc. I hope this gets you going.
