three questions : NLS, hwinfo, typos
Hello. As mentioned, I have three questions, each one completely different from the last: 1. In the default kernel 2.4.4-4GB, international characters load perfectly (the ones, for example, in "cdrecord --version") on _every_ console (tty1 through the rest). Now with my self- compiled 2.4.9, only the first console shows them correctly: the rest show the incorrect character (for example, ô instead of ö). Using "CTRL + SHIFT" to create those foreign characters, I can create the correct ones only in the first console: the rest spoil it. Has anyone experienced this? 2. hwinfo is great. It properly detects all kinds of different info, while also providing a single user-friendly gateway to it instead of having to sift through /proc. My scanner, however, is not listed as a scanner, as it should be. Where can I send this info so that the next version of hwinfo will correctly list it? 3. There are an amazing amount of types in the SuSE Reference Manual (around 20 just from my quick looking). I kept track of them: why do send them so the corrections will be made? -- noodlez: Karol Pietrzak PGP KeyID: 0x3A1446A0

You could try feedback@suse.com, but I have no idea if anyone reads or acts on the mail there. I have remarked before that the intent/content of Suse manuals is good, the proof-reading is appalling...but to be fair it is better than it was in the past. What they should do is the same as O'Reilly do with their books ..have an online errata page. It wouldn't be a bad idea if they translated some of the online docs into English as well..some of them are still in German. Regards Cliff
