[opensuse] Why was I dropped?
Hey, Was there a problem with the mailing list. I got drop and haven't ever had a problem with this list. -- -- Command, n.: Statement presented by a human and accepted by a computer in such a manner as to make the human feel as if he is in control. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Was there a problem with the mailing list. I got drop and haven't ever had a problem with this list. For days we were asking questions why the list was so slow (delays of over 20 minutes) without ever getting a reply from Novell, until one day the problem got so severe that people were automatically unsubscribed in droves. At that point the list administrator found the runaway maintenance task slowing the server down and notified

This is not entirely true. The delays had nothing to do with the unsubscribing problem. The delays were caused by 4 major spiders runnning on lists. And you really have to CC opensuse+owner in any complaints about the list itself because otherwise we might oversee the mails. Thats the only way to reliable get an answer from any list owner or me. This is offtopic but related to the opensuse-list mail system. Once I had the problem that all my mails were ignored/rejected by the opensuse mailer including mails to the owner. First I noticed that my mails sent to the list just disappeared silently (ie nor they appeared in the list neither were sent back). Then I wrote to opensue+owner and he did not receive my mail either. I had to write to another member and ask him forwarding my message to the list owner. The point is that there should be an alternative method/email address for reporting problems in case of similar events. You were very probably bitten by the antispam filter.
