Hello all. I tried installing opensuse 10.1 through isos downloaded from ftp.gwdg.de. The installation proceeds normally in the first few steps, but I keep getting the same error of the package catalogue not found in cd.... I can thus not make any package selection and cannot install 10.1 . Which is the package catalogue and from where can I download one in order to incorporate it in the cd1 iso??? I had exactly the same problem when I tried to do an ftp install through gwdg.de Any helpful advice welcome
Did you receive an answer (a private one perhaps?) to this question? Although I can install 10.1 (on my test computer) I cannot do any selection of apps. to install/not install - clicking on the Details box results in SuSE10.1 giving me the 2-finger salute. Cheers. -- All answers questioned here.
I am sorry,I have still not found an answer..... Regards O/H Basil Chupin έγραψε:

Hi Jose, I don't recall the exact error message, but I was unable to start the installation using just the contents of CD1 copied to hard disk. I *was* able to install using the 'pre-DVD' installation source produced by Houghi's makeSUSEdvd script (thanks, Houghi!) I used the script to produce only the local hard disk based installation source that is the precursor to burning a DVD. See: http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD FYI, the word "catalogue' seems to be used in certain warning/error messages in YaST's 'Installation Source' module. I think it's referring to package indexes that, for some reason, cannot be found or read. hth & regards, Carl
