You have three options. You could recompile your kernel for generic serial support as a module. Or you could edit /etc/conf.modules so the line that reads `alias char-major-4 ..' reads `alias char-major-4 off'. Or you could just ignore it. It isn't hurting anything, trust me.
I think my HP5L is hopeless, it is some kind of Win printer and don't seem to be working well under Linux. :-(
I've heard of many 5L's that work. I understand that you're frustrated, though.
I do not know what to do next on the stupid SBLive, the driver on the Creative website is not working (at least I can't get it to work), can any expert out there get me some light?
Two things to remember: First, the driver is a beta module. Second, you can't win *every* time (unless you are me :) ).
I have realised that the 2.2.10 kernel is working so much faster than the 2.0.36 came with the 6.0. Wow... but still no sound.
I have found that as well. How fast is your CPU? How much RAM?
Can you briefly teach me how to setup the ppp or DNS or whatever, as I have wondering around for the past 4 hours and nothing is improving, still not internet on Linux. :-(
WVDial is the easiest, with pppsetup (available from Slackware mirrors) being my second choice. wvdial.rpm is on disc 1, I think, under series n1. Install it, run it, kill it. Edit /etc/wvdial.conf, run it again *!BOOM!* Internet access!
