[opensuse] missing packages in opensuse-community's subpixel repo
Hello list mates. Here is my upgrade tip. Just upgraded to openSUSE 11.3 from 11.2 via zypper dup. Everything's peachy except that fonts look different in KDE and Gnome. Fonts in the former have antialising/smooting, fonts in the latter - don't. Turns out the subpixel repository in http://opensuse-community.org/subpixel/openSUSE_11.3/x86_64/ does not include the updated cairo library. Also, zypper dup left the old freetype2 package and did not replace it with libfreetype6 from the subpixel repo. So I had to manually remove freetype2, install libfreetype6, and rebuild the cairo src rpm in order to get fonts look the same in Gnome and KDE (as it used to be the case in 11.2). Cannot tell anything about the freetype issue but you don't need to rebuild or patch cairo in 11.3 as the wanted patch is already there. Something else went wrong then. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

How bizarre. Why would reinstalling a rebuilt cairo library fix font rendering in gnome if the right one was already there? Anyhow, everything's working now, so I am very happy :-) Vadym -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
