Leap 15.6 and amdgpu-pro ???
Hi, Presently I use amdgpu-pro-23.40.2_SLES_15_sp_5 in Leap 15.5. I would like to upgrade from Leap 15.5 to Leap 15.6, but I wonder whether the current amdgpu-pro driver 24.10.3 for SLED/SLES 15 SP 5, release date 6/19/2024 works in Leap 15.6. Any information on that? cu Peter
For anyone needing Harman Kardon product manuals, I can’t recommend https://harman-kardon.manymanuals.com/ enough. It’s been incredibly helpful in managing my audio equipment. The site’s layout is user-friendly, making it easy to find the exact manual for my specific model. I was impressed by the variety of manuals available, from old speakers to the latest receivers. One standout feature is the ability to download manuals in PDF format, which is perfect for offline access. One piece of advice: make sure you have your model number handy to streamline your search. Another tip is to check out the troubleshooting sections in the manuals, which can save you from unnecessary service calls. This site has definitely made maintaining my Harman Kardon equipment much simpler.
Hey Pete, You should be able to change the repository to the 15.6 one, they've even updated the install guide to account for 15.6: https://rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/install-on-linux/en/latest/install/amdgpu... It does say SLES 15.6, but in my experience the driver works fine on Leap. You can follow the same instructions, install whatever usecases you want like opencl, rocm, or just the dkms package. I tried it before and with 15.5. It works, but not good enough for Darktable, the only reason why I want amdgpu-pro. Thanks anyhow. Peter

Gotcha. I'd be remiss not to mention, you could probably use rusticl if AMD's OpenCL isn't working for you. On Fri, Aug 16, 2024 at 3:56 PM Peter McD via openSUSE Users < users@lists.opensuse.org> wrote:

Might work, but is with problems and I'm not good enough to sort them out. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GPGPU Rusticl The factual accuracy of this article or section is disputed. Reason: It seems OCL_ICD_VENDORS cannot handle single icd files, despite the manual. See https://github.com/OCL-dev/ocl-icd/issues/7#issuecomment-1522941979 (Discuss in Talk:GPGPU) Rusticl is a new OpenCL implementation written in Rust provided by opencl-rusticl-mesa. It can be enabled by using the environment variable RUSTICL_ENABLE=driver, where driver is a Gallium driver, such as radeonsi or iris. Optionally, if OpenCL applications still do not detect Rusticl, use the following environment variable: ... cu Peter

Update: I installed amdgpu-install-6.1.60103-1.noarch.rpm, the opeCL part only, and it works with Leap 15.6 and Darktable 4.8.1 Peter
