[opensuse] Update error
I would very much like to get software updates, but unfortunately I get a notification every day that says: "Update error. Failed to obtain authentication." How can I supply the correct authentication to the update system? Thank you in advance for your help, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

My system is Leap 15.1. Under 13.2, the system checked for updates every day, notifying them if there were any. Then I was free to download and install them. There was no need to specify a manner or a level. Now, under 15.1, I receive a daily notification that says: "Update error Failed to obtain authentication."

You're right. I have to apologize. Best regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Ok, a daily notification. Thus I suppose it comes from the package-kit app, not from YaST or zypper. Please verify, and check its configuration. For what it is worth, I always remove package kit from all my installs. Try to start "zypper patch" (as root in a terminal). Does it complain? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I did so, and a lot off stuff was installed. Then I started "zypper patch" again, getting this response: Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... Nothing to do. Thank you for your help, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Open yast package manager, find the package, remove and taboo it :-) Telcontar:~ # zypper locks # | Name | Type | Repository - ---+---------------------------+---------+----------- 1 | PackageKit | package | (any) <== 2 | PackageKit-browser-plugin | package | (any) <== 3 | PackageKit-gtk3-module | package | (any) <== 4 | apper | package | (any) <== 5 | calibre | package | (any) 6 | cdrkit-cdrtools-compat | package | (any) 7 | libmysqlclient18 | package | (any) 8 | pk-update-icon | package | (any) <== 9 | plymouth | package | (any) 10 | rekall | package | (any) 11 | rekall-examples | package | (any) 12 | rekall-mysql | package | (any) 13 | smapi | package | (any) 14 | tracker-miner-thunderbird | package | (any) 15 | wodim | package | (any) Telcontar:~ #

So no problems with updating, just the pk app.

np, cleared that up. But I cannot help as I rely on zypper and until recently successfully supressed that "pop up" and have never tried to utilize it. I still have it unchecked in system tray settings "General" but to no avail. I checked/enabled it and told it to always show and it shows none so cannot check. Errrr, just poped up saying 31 updates but doesn't allow me to do anything. Checking with zypper, indeed shows 31 updates, installing. Really cannot see any worthwhile function to that (and most) pop upses gudluk, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

There is no authentication for openSUSE updates. We need more details. Start pasting the output of "cat /etc/os-release". Then zypper lr --details > somefile.txt and attach, not paste, that "somefile.txt" to the email. Are you in some sort of corporate network, like a school or company? - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. Thank you in advance for your help, Wolfgang Please put the output of zypper lr -d on some paste site and show us the link to it.
Since you run Leap, open a terminal window and do sudo zypper clean sudo zypper ref sudo zypper up -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. Knurpht openSUSE Board Member openSUSE Forums Team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Here is where I have put it: http://www.ariannuccia.de/temp/zypper%20lr%20-d Anyway, everything seems o.k.
Since you run Leap, open a terminal window and do sudo zypper clean
All repositories have been cleaned up.
sudo zypper ref
Repository 'google-chrome' is up to date. Repository 'openSUSE-Leap-15.1-1' is up to date. Repository 'Debug Repository' is up to date. Repository 'Update Repository (Debug)' is up to date. Repository 'Non-OSS Repository' is up to date. Repository 'Main Repository' is up to date. Repository 'Source Repository' is up to date. Repository 'Main Update Repository' is up to date. Repository 'Update Repository (Non-Oss)' is up to date. Repository 'Untested Updates' is up to date. All repositories have been refreshed.
sudo zypper up
Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Nothing to do. Again, everything seems o.k. Thanks a lot and kind regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yee..s... "Untested Updates" is not typical, though.

Yes. It is something from the applet. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
