[opensuse] after this latest update, cannot verify root
I was just running a zypper patch this morning to Box #2 below, and as it was installing the patches, this came up: ---------- Retrieving: yast2-2.23.3_2.23.4-1.2.1_1.7.1.x86_64.drpm .....................................................................................[done] Applying delta: ./yast2-2.23.3_2.23.4-1.2.1_1.7.1.x86_64.drpm ...............................................................................[done] Installing: bind-libs-9.9.1P4-1.8.1 .........................................................................................................[done] Installing: libopenjpeg1-1.5.0-2.7.1 ........................................................................................................[done] Installing: libproxy1-0.4.7-14.4.1 ..........................................................................................................[done] Installing: xorg-x11-Xvnc-7.6_1.12.3-1.13.1 .................................................................................................[done] Installing: xorg-x11-server-7.6_1.12.3-1.13.1 ...............................................................................................[done] Additional rpm output: Updating /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager... /usr/bin/Xorg: cannot verify root:root 0755 - not listed in /etc/permissions ----------------------- I looked it up and it says there is a bug for this, https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=770832 But none of it makes sense to me. This means that "/usr/bin/Xorg" is owned by root:root with permissions=0755. /etc/permissions appears to be used by suseconfig and chkstat, my guess is that it has no entry for "/usr/bin/Xorg". It most probably does not affect the running of your system at all. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.9°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This is correct. Please just ignore this message. It is meant as a local-only (!) hook to give out setuid root permissions if a knowledgeable user really really needs it.
