Anyone got Beryl with AIGLX on Intel 945GM working on 10.1? Ive installed and updated from http://software.opensuse.org/download/X11:/XGL/SUSE_Linux_10.1/ (for Beryl stuff) and http://software.opensuse.org/download/xorg7/Java_Sun-Java-1.5_SUSE_Linux_10.... (for latest xorg stuff, weird dir name?) I get Beryl to startup, splash-screen and then just white screen. Cube works, but everything is just white. Lots of howtos, but none working so far. You need to disable Xgl if using xorg7 and AIGLX. try beryl and bery-xgl from shell and see what the output is. You can Control+c to kill beryl if you get white screen. -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Done, no success. Beryl-xgl correctly states that I dont have xgl installed. Do you have it working on this hardware? And from these sources? Try with just beryl. Also check if you get compiz working?

Can you post yout relevant xorg.conf sections so we can compare? I also have the same problem (white screen) with the same hardware (945GM). -- % Mauricio Teixeira (netmask) % mteixeira{a}webset{d}net <> Maceio/AL/BR % http://mteixeira.webset.net <> http://pmping.sf.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, please I have updated to the new Beryl packages as proposed, but still get white screen and output of Beryl as follows: XGL Absent, checking for NVIDIA Nvidia Absent, assuming AIGLX libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5b beryl: No stencil buffer. Nope, not working for me, just to be really really sure were on the same page. I have OpenSUSE 10.1 from DVD installed, on a Dell D820, Intel 945GM video With Xorg updates from: http://software.opensuse.org/download/xorg7/Java_Sun-Java-1.5_SUSE_Linux_10.... (X --version gives X Window System Version 7.1.99.2) and Beryl packages from http://software.opensuse.org/download/X11:/XGL/XOrg7_SUSE_Linux_10.1/ All xorg.conf changes as indicated above. Any other ideas? Yesterday I updated from the two sources above, still the same white screen on running beryl. On running beryl-manager a new option appeared, "Non-TFP Copy Rendering", choosing it made the white screen go away, but it very very slow. Some moments of debugging later I tried: " beryl --use-copy --force-aiglx" this works!! still not lighting fast (will not put up with it while working) but usable to showoff every now and then. Not sure how useful the new updates were? I never tried some of the command-line options before. What does "use-copy" mean? I am told that using Xgl is still the best way to go for on SUSE even if you are using xorg 7x, the experience would be quite superior to AIGLX.

Glad to know that you got it working.

Here is some information on the subject: http://blog.beryl-project.org/beryl/27/non-tfp-mode-a-clarification/ And here is the reason why it is slow: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/compiz/2006-November/000871.html -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
