I have two questions! I have SuSE running Kernel 2.2.16 and I am wondering if it allows support for large file, say in the 24GB Size? Second question is "Does SuSE running Kernel 2.2.16 support direct (unbuffered) I/O?" Thank You, Paul -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

I really don't know, but I don't think so.

I would guess you need RTLinux for that. (RT=RealTime). Regards Ole -- Windows: Where do you want to go today? MacOS: Where do you want to be tomorrow? No, the current *kernel* will not get you there. If you want large file support (greater than 2 GB) you'll need to wait until ext3 or Reiser has 64 bit file support. I know this is coming in Reiser, but not sure on the time frame. - Herman On Tue, 15 Aug 2000 okh-linux@post.cybercity.dk wrote: ->>On Mon, 14 Aug 2000, Paul Zimdars wrote: ->> ->>> I have two questions! ->>> ->>> I have SuSE running Kernel 2.2.16 and I am wondering if it allows support ->>> for large file, say in the 24GB Size? ->> ->>I really don't know, but I don't think so. ->> ->>> Second question is "Does SuSE ->>> running Kernel 2.2.16 support direct (unbuffered) I/O?" ->> ->>I would guess you need RTLinux for that.
