Try checking your default runlevel, in yast2, under the Run-level-editor. Make sure it is 5, not 3. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
I think all I did was change the domain name from linux to sentry. I also changed the name to the right of the dos, but changed it back to local. When I get out network running under linux, I want to name each computer, but naming conventions are not clear yet. In the meantime, I am resorting to using win to access the net. I also tried to make dial on demand work. (demand = 1 in the wvdial.conf file? thanks, John R. Sowden American Sentry Systems, Inc. U.L. From KDE I can go to the consoles, but when I try to return to the gui, I get an error message that says "Input not Accepted" or something similar. I have to (excuse the ms expression) reboot to get back to the gui. Psst, I still can't get on the internet if anyone has any thoughts. My ISP (dial-up) sees me log on ok, but my computer can't find any urls, mail addresses, etc. tia,

Good day John,

This sounds like you forgot to tell your system about the IPaddresses of a primary and secondary name server. Best regards Johnny :o)

Yep, put the info in /etc/resolv.conf search yourisp.net nameserver 198.6.1.221 nameserver 198.6.100.215 -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation

I would say your new graphical drivers are to blame. What does your /var/log/XFree86.0.log tell what happens if you run "startx" as root? -- Richard Bos Fresh rpms for SuSE: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/freshrpms.html Without a home the journey is endless

Hi, I had this problem. What I did was login as root on the text screen and then run the command: # init 3 In init 3 run sax2 (# sax2); check that your moniter and graphics card are still set up correctly and if you see two listings of your graphics card delete one of them. I hope this helps, Jerome
