I had sent this message to the Evolution developers earlier and recirved this reply.
That would mean that you configured Evolution incorrectly or else that the server doesn't exist, presumably.
I don't know what else to tell you.

I tried ripping it out by the roots and reinstalling and reconfiguring - it didn't help
Evolution (SuSE v8.0 upgraded version) refuses to send or receive mail. This is most frustrating, Evolution/Summary/Weather works, but every time

I'm hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on this problem and a solution. Thanks in advance.
I downloaded the rpm for evolution 1.0.5 and did a force install. It all appears to be working okay, sending and recieving mail is okay as well. Regards Mark A
Thanks for the reply. I downloaded 1.0.5 and installed the rpm with the force and nodeps switches. The new version seems to work fine, except it still won't log on to the mailserver at my ISP.. It findt the weather server in England, Linux Today and Salon.com without any hesitation, but the ISP mail server keeps rejecting the connection. I have KMail running in SuSE v7.1 on another box without any problems, but wasn't able to get evolution working on that platform Any further suggestions will be most welcome. .At 06:27 PM 5/26/02 +0000, Mark Annandale wrote:
