[SLE] KDE-3.5.3 & missing icons
Hello, After upgrading KDE-3.5.2 to 3.5.3, some icons, including those from the titlebar (close button, max button, etc.) were missing. Today I updated again. The titlebar icons are back, but still some icons seem missing, e.g. Contact sidebar icons. Strangely enough, when I hover above the Contact sidebar icons with the mouse, they appear. But not the selected icon. That one shows up after selecting another icons. Other seemingly missing icons are: KPowerSave icon in the taskbar, KPowerSave icons in the KPowersave Information Dialog, some icons in KPowerSave's tray icon menu, one of Konqueror's icons on the toolbar at the far right side (throbber?), several application icons in the titlebar (Contact, Konqueror). But you probably don't need the whole list of missing icons. ;) Is this work in progress? Have the same problems here (see my posts today), plus my sreensaver doesn't start automatically anymore - it works when I start it manually (suspend session). Does your screesaver work automatically? Hi Leen.
How did You download all the files?.
smart. Install smart with yast (SL-10.1 base repository), then as root do: smart channel --add http://software.opensuse.org/download/repositories/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1... More channels to find in subdirs of http://software.opensuse.org/download/repositories/. Look for the .repo extension. But beware! Do not add everything, be smart and add only what you need. Just done the same upgrade and the icons and have had the same icons disappear. Changing the windows behaviour to a different theme gets round this as it only affects the SuSE theme. Welcome to the bleeding edge. Installing early is for finding those bugs. It is already fixed in the latest builds. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

It seems it is: I logged in as another user, and all seemed just right. Logging in as myself, I still have some icons seemingly missing. I removed /tmp/kde-leen, /tmp/ksocket-leen, /var/tmp/kdecache-leen, but that didn't help. So the problem is in my ~/.kde directory. What can I do except from removing or renaming my ~/.kde directory? I don't like to lose my current settings. Try changing your settings in Personal Settings, Appearance and Themes, and maybe change Icons to Crystal SUSE, or verify the other settings in that area. I think you will get it working in no time. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Already tried that, did not help. Here's an update: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=181120 Indeed I use the kdeclassic icon set. The fix worked. No problems with icons anymore. :)) Cheers, Leen -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
