RAID not starting at boot time & superblock errors
Hello, This is the first time I've seen this with a Suse install. Using Suse 10.0, and created the raid using Yast and the raid works, however after a reboot the raid can't be mounted. The following error occurs during boot up; mount: /dev/md0: can't read superblock It appears that the raid isn't starting during the init sequence. Yast usually takes care of that, but hasn't in this instance. How do I force the RAID to start during bootup? Also, raidstart doesn't start the array. The RAID needed to be recreated to start. On a similar note, I am not sure the RAID was actually formatted. After recreating the RAID by hand and using 'mkfs.xfs -d agcount=52 -l size=32m /dev/md0' it took only a second to "format" on a RAID that is 208 GB. That doesn't seem right. Included are extra details; # fdisk -l /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd Disk /dev/sdb: 74.3 GB, 74355769344 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9039 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 1 9039 72605736 fd Linux raid autodetect Disk /dev/sdc: 74.3 GB, 74355769344 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9039 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdc1 1 9039 72605736 fd Linux raid autodetect Disk /dev/sdd: 74.3 GB, 74355769344 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9039 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdd1 1 9039 72605736 fd Linux raid autodetect #mdadm --detail /dev/md0 /dev/md0: Version : 00.90.02 Creation Time : Fri Feb 17 09:23:17 2006 Raid Level : raid0 Array Size : 217816896 (207.73 GiB 223.04 GB) Raid Devices : 3 Total Devices : 3 Preferred Minor : 0 Persistence : Superblock is persistent Update Time : Fri Feb 17 09:23:17 2006 State : clean Active Devices : 3 Working Devices : 3 Failed Devices : 0 Spare Devices : 0 Chunk Size : 64K UUID : 1faf6668:f03d626b:fdea4506:541f8209 Events : 0.1 Number Major Minor RaidDevice State 0 8 17 0 active sync /dev/sdb1 1 8 33 1 active sync /dev/sdc1 2 8 49 2 active sync /dev/sdd1 Any help to get this started at boot time would be most appreciated. Hello,

what's the entry in fstab? Also, is the root partition part of the raid? -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)
