Suse 8.0 Is anyone using the Realplayer feature of xmms ? Initaily I could not find it in Options > Preferences. Since copying Libreal.so to .xmms/Plugings the file shows alongside all other players in the xmms Audio I/O plugins. But no matter how hard I try it will not open a Realplayer link in Opera. Xmms will start and show the open file dialogue. The xmms web site has messages from people with similar experiences. But a fix is mentioned - something about a 1 line fix that is in the CVS version. If you have any further information about this it would be helpful. I tried upgrading to xmms 1.2.7 but lost a lot of plugins and visualization features. Do we have a Suse xmms 1.2.7 rpm ? Brian Marr

Amazingly, "Use the Ximian package" is NOT always the correct answer. If you don't have Ximian GNOME installed already, then to install this XMMS package would nuke a whole bunch of libraries that are included in the SuSE package, but seperate in the Ximian on (libogg for example, but there are others) So, you then have to install the Ximian packages for them too. Then, when you come to upgrade your distro, YaST gets terribly unhappy, because it knows not what this libogg package is, and certain files from the new XMMS package you want to install conflict with files from libogg, that's assuming that the build number on the Ximian package and that on the SuSE package don't result in the wrong package being installed/not installed. If I have time over the weekend (it's a big "IF", but hey, you never know...) I'll do an XMMS build, and add it to usr-local-bin.org. It'll be built to the same specs as the SuSE packages, so it won't screw up your RPM database like some packages can.
