Can I install 9.0 and then upgrade packages with Yast with my 9.1 disk thereby leaving the older more stable kernel intact?

My Konqueror is freezing up if I can get it on at all without crashing. So I clicked again after a few minutes. Luckily I didn't do it too often. Anyway the messages were to "list" so don't take it personally. Going to kmail soon as I can sort it out. sorry!

Seems my hard drive is bad. My Seagate utility says there are bad sectors. The first one went out on during my 1st 9.1 install and now this one. I am trying to reformat it write zeros to disk etc. to see if that clears is up. Either I am unlucky or there is something still in the partitions causing errors: 1. Things seemed to work fine for about a week until updated tryed to install on c:Windows. I did try crossover office at one point, but did a reinstall of SuSE got the same proble. After reformatting and removing windows things have been erratic: mouse, and freezing ups, half-boots and feeze. Over and Out! Thom Nuzum

I hope you backedup /home its also an excellent excuse to do clean install. I have older WD drives 30gig and 40 gig plenty of room for your four partitions. have a fifth called /storage. CWSIV On Mon, 2004-06-21 at 17:24, Thom Nuzum wrote:

Thanks. I think I will add a separate hard drive for Windows to be safe this time round. Up and running well again now without any known problems. 3d graphics are working better and no signs of jerkiness.

Get two caddys to keep windows on its own drive and linux separately then you can switch manually. CWSIV On Tue, 2004-06-22 at 18:50, Thom Nuzum wrote:
