[opensuse] Eclipse Ganymede
Is there any ETA of when eclipse will be updated to 3.4? Thanks -- Regards Scott Newton -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You could download from Eclipse site a compiled version. Here I run Eclipse 3.4 with CDT on openSuSE 10.3. I have verified that it works on 11.0 too. -- Bogdan Cristea software engineer Sytron Technologies Overseas www.sytron.ro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Bit delayed in commenting in this as I have away for a few days. My experience with Ganymede on SuSE 11.0 and 10.2 has been somewhat mixed. Ones experience rather depends on the plugins one is using. (I did have a couple of problems its predecessor, which did go away in Ganymede only to replaced with some other issues, which may or may not been caused by updating to 11.0 with Java 1.6.x from 10.2 with Java 1.5.x). Plugin management has improved a bit but can still be a bit like pulling ones own teeth without anaesthetic, in this aspect Eclipse plugins are both a strength in the sheer quantity available and a pain in the way they can interact. The day before I left I spent a day trying to fix a problem with the Subclipse Subversion plugin. (to cut a long story short the configuration for one of the repositories I use became somewhat corrupted, in the end I had to reinstall Eclipse and create a new project definition). I tend to use the Yoxos site for initial installation as one can create a custom build with integrated plugins (and the update management is a little more useful than the native eclipse tool). Unfortunately, this is restricted the 32 bit version. (Though you can get away with copying the non-architecture specific plugins into a 64 bit install). - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
