I believe the reason he is asking about compatibility, is due to this: Prolific 3507 chipset. Commonly refered to the chipset from hell. Some manufacturers went to it as it was cheaper then the standards like the Oxford 911. But this chipset has timeout issues with ALL operating systems. Most USB cases will work (see above), I do STRONGLY reccommend one with a fan. I also reccommend that you still back up your external case, as did you ever notice that most external premade usb drives, only come with a year warranty. I like Seagates with the five year warranty, because if the fan dies and I don't notice it, I at least have that to fall back on (besides other backups).
