Hello.
I have installed the Samba packages supplied with SuSe 8.2, using Yast2. Samba works fine but SWAT (Samba Web Administration Tool) is not usable. When calling http://localhost:901 from Konqueror, the answer is : Impossible to connect to localhost (port 901).
Looks funny because I had no problem in the past with an older version of SuSe on an other PC. The various files involved, /etc/inedt and /etc/services look fine.
Did somebody have the same problem ? What should I do to put SWAT at work ?
Xinetd is active since suse 8.2. Google will tell you everything you ve to configure.
Good afternoon. I have already modified several times the SWAT file in directory /etc/xinetd.d/ as described in Google findings, without success. By the way, in SuSe 8.2 this file is called samba instead of swat, but it describes swat service. An other interesting point, in the file /etc/ services, the port 901 seems to be used by other services. There is a line smpnameres 901/tcp, is it necessary to comment this line? What service is smpnameres ?
Hallo, my swat file and it works fine. # default: on # description: SWAT is the Samba Web Admin Tool. Use swat \ # to configure your Samba server. To use SWAT, \ # connect to port 901 with your favorite web browser. service swat { port = 901 socket_type = stream wait = no only_from = localhost user = root server = /usr/sbin/swat log_on_failure += USERID disable = no }
