Re: [SLE] GTK > 1.2.1?
I would say this is the error, yes.
Do you have the file /usr/include/gtk-1.2/gtk/gtk.h on your system? In my 8.1 it is provided by gtk-devel.rpm.
Yes, I do, and that is what has be baffled. I even went to SuSE ftp lastnight and d/l and reinstalled gtk and gtk-devel. That is what leads me to believe the path is hosed, but I forgot where the path is to check to see if its correct.
It's also a little suspicious that it's looking in the directory /usr/include/gtk-1.2.1. Have you installed something manually? gtk in 8.1 is 1.2.10, so if you've installed 1.2.1 it would be a downgrade, I think.
I installed gtk-conf from their site when I could not find a solution to this
problem. Other then that, everything is from SuSE, cd or site.

Well, that's your problem. gtk-config is a relatively simple shell script, the purpose of which is to give programs you compile the locations of your include files and libraries. If you install it from some other source, it will give the wrong locations and the compile will fail. gtk-config is included in the gtk-devel rpm and that's what you should use
I moved the current gtk-config to gtk-config.old (just to keep it until this is resolved). Reinstalled gtk-devel using rpm -Uvh --force and a new gtk-config did not show up. I then reinstalled gtk using rpm -Uvh --force and did get gtk-config back....But the error is still there. My system will *not* see gtk. I am really lost. 1) Never, ever, ever use --force 2) Using the proper gtk-config, what errors are you getting in config.log?
