[opensuse] Icons gone!
Hi--In just a few minutes, including 2 reboots to OpenSUSE TW, I have lost my screen icons for a number of apps, to wit: Brasero, Qsynth, LMMS, QjackCtl, ConvertAll, Google Earth, FreeOffice 2018 Textmaker, FreeOffice 2018 Planmaker, Thunderbird and Firefox. Is there any easy way to get them back? Or is there a harder way? I tried sending FreeOffice 2018 Textmaker to Trash and replacing it from the task list (the black thing in the lower left corner) but that didn't work. As you can tell, the names of the apps are still in place on the screen. I am not averse to dragging the icons back one by one, if necessary, but I don't know how. (And I'm not sure what they all look like!) --doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

so besides rebooting, what did you do and why did you reboot? something changed besides rebooting and you need to tell us what you did as there is no other way to know or troubleshoot. what desktop manager? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Doug, I'm a bit confused. What desktop are you using? I remember something from about a year ago with Plasma, that when this occurs, you need to wipe out part of the stored configuration under ~/.config -- but I don't recall exactly what you need to delete. Other will have to help there. But there will be a lot of guessing going on until you tell us which desktop? -- David C. I have the same/a similar problem since about 3 snapshots. All apps are in place, but show only the grey replacement icon. After selecting them with the mouse the icons all of a sudden reappear and then stay in place during the session. Same procedure for every login.

Before the problem, I read (in some other list) that something useful might occur if you hit ctrl-F3, so I did The screen went black so I rebooted. Seeing the loss of icons, I rebooted again, and perhaps lost a few more. Desktop is Plasma--KDE 5, I think it used to be called. doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Since last week I have nearly-empty "Battery" icons visible for my favourites in left hand screen of the gnome file-manager. -- Johannes Weberhofer Weberhofer GmbH, Austria, Vienna -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It seems that sound from YouTube is mostly missing--I found one sound channel, but the others I tried are dead. Picture comes thru OK. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
