I have toyed around with most of the open-source DVD players and Xine to me seems the most mature so I will focus on this one. Xine on my Toshiba Satellite Laptop 2805-603 (Pentium III 1 GHZ, Geforce 2 GO) runs ok in a window but the video begins to get jerky fullscreen. Note have tried both Xv and without. The video seems even less smooth on my Athlon 1.4 GHz, GeForce 3. One thing I have not tried yet is to compile the program from source rather than install the RPMS. Curious to know how well others have got DVD play to work under Linux? PCHintz

Yes it was very easy also. Head to http://www.videolan.org & download vlc-0.2.90.tar.gz de-compress and compile, then install and play. Just that simple for me under 7.2. If you want me to post anything like png of Terminator2 playing, let me know :-) /Dee
