[opensuse] why did nobody quote the important things :-)
I had to test the net install of openSUSE 11 (failed, not enough memory, as expected - 192Mo) to see than YaST do not ask for a server anymore and launch directly the install this is *great* jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I've searched en.opensuse.org, and I don't see a "minimum system requirements" page at all. I do recall that v10.1 or 10.2 started the requirement of needing 256MB RAM. IF you have your partitioning already setup, you can add the existing swap partition as swap. That's how I have had to do it on low mem systems. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

probably the same. I couldn't install the 11 on this computer, nor with kde4 cd (no dvd reader there) - because there is no "install" option before going live and, even if the live goes up, there is not enough memory left to install :-( Net install failed as well during repository management. Mandriva (very last version) an slackware are able to install (slack with as little as 64Mo ram!) but this is *not* a complain, this memory is really little nowaday. But I was delighted to see net install go directly to servers with no more question!! this is good. jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I installed via internet and it went without a hitch w/ just 512MB of RAM. First time I got an internet install to work ever, with multiple distro versions of RH and Suse.. Always seemed to get farther w/ Suse than I ever did with RH. Took less then 2 hours to do the install. -- Michael S. Well, 10.3 was dog slow, at installing, but 11.0 is super fast. As for "only" having 512MB, I regularly run with 256-512MB. I did install 11.0/Beta2 on a PowerMac 6500 with 128MB RAM. It was SLOW, but it worked. You just have to have a swap parition ready before you try to install. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Could that be because of all the missing stuff?
Missing stuff ? 11.0 was *designed* to be a faster install and have better package management.
