Dear friends, I have installed Postfix, IMAP and have started imap, pop3 daemons in inetd.conf and have tested with telnet. Both pop3 and imap respond to login rsp and show 0 messages in queue. Now I want to drop mail to myself for testing purpose. I have configured kmail for smtp as my local host and receiver as rsp. I dropped a mail to user rsp and it passed through the sent messages folder shows that message is sent. but inbox don't show any messages even after series of check mail clicks. is there any way to test whether postfix is working as we intend to configure ? the machine is Standalone dell laptop with suse 8.0. Host name is rsp-dell and domain is rsp the send addresses I have tried are rsp@rsp-dell.rsp and rsp@rsp too but no success can somebody help me in this regard. this is first time I am configuring a mail server and don't have any past experience in configuring mail service. Thanks and Best Regards R. S. Patil

Better use fetchmail, you get debug info. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
See /var/log/mail for details. It will indicate if mail was delivered. Thomas "R. S. Patil" wrote:
