[opensuse] Clear Recent Documents -- doesn't clear the list of documents -- REPOST
Using 32-bit oS 11.0 with KDE4x (but same thing is occurring with oS11.1Beta5). When I try to Clear Recent Documents (Application Launcher==>Recently Used tab) the list of documents "pretends" to be cleared but at the next restart/boot of the system all the "cleared" documents reappear in the list. As root, I've cleared out the /tmp folder thinking that this is where such a list of recently used documents resides but, No, the list still keeps reappearing. In /home there is also a (hidden) file called '.recently-used' but it doesn't play a role in this problem. Anybody know how to make sure that a list of recently used documents remains deleted? Or better still, how to stop used documents being recorded in this Recently Used tab? (Windows has this ability not to have documents used recorded in such a list by setting an option in the Start menu.) Sounds like a really odd bug to me. Perhaps there's two copies of this file, and one is being recreated from the other upon reboot? I don't know much about KDE 4 so I couldn't tell you where to look... I did search Bugzilla for this problem in both 11.0 and 11.1 and found nothing, so you might need to file one against openSUSE 11.1 at https://bugzilla.novell.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=openSUSE 11.1 -- Kevin "Yeaux" Dupuy - openSUSE Member Public Mail: <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from the Yeaux! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In oS 11.0 with KDE4 I did some digging and found that the list of Recently Used files are kept in (the hidden directory) /home/<username>/.kde4/share/apps/RecentDocuments/ . By deleting the list of files they are removed from Application Launcher==>Recently Used and won't appear when you reboot. Now for the quirky part.... :-) . I stated earlier that you can delete the files from Recently Used list in the Launcher by using the (intended) normal means of deleting them (right-click>Clear Recent Documents) but they would re-appear after reboot; well, what NOW happens is that they do NOT get deleted when you use Clear Recent Documents (they remain in the Launcher) but disappear after reboot :-) . (The same is happening in oS 11.1RC1 but at least now I know that I can delete these files.) An update to my "Now for the quirky part...". During the day (yesterday) some upgrade occurred and it appears that the problem I mention has now disappeared, ie Clear Recent Documents in the Launcher do get removed.
