Thread limit per user process in Linux

Hi, I'm encountering thread error and seem to be hitting the maximum thread per user process at 1024 using SuSE with Kernel 2.4.18-64GB-SMP. /proc/sys/kernel/threads-max is set to 14336 (far bigger than 1024). Any idea how to increase thread limit per user process?

Are you sure you really need all those threads? Or perhaps there is a process that is creating threads in a 'runsway' situation......? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Hi, Actually, our production server is only limited to 256 threads right now. And it is the real problem because it is quite low for our system. I am just using the development server (currently limited to 1024) to debug it. I have checked all the threads and everything seems to be all accounted for. It is just not enough to create additional threads because I'm hitting the maximum at 256. Thanks.
