Open Office jre1.3.x Dependency
The initial ftp install of suse 8.2 won't let open office work. It has a failed dependancy. jre1.3.x. It has this problems on two separate machines that i have installed the OS on so i am assuming that it is a known issue and you people will have an easy answer for me :) I can not find a place where i am able to search the list archives. If you have a link please send. Doing a search for YAST2 of jre i found nothing. So assuming that the problem is a missing java 2 runtime environment i downloaded and installed both j2re Java 2 runtime environment, standard edition and jre Java 2 runtime environment. Neither had any effect on the dependancy check. I have installed (from sun site) Paul Kraus

You would be better off to install the Blackdown version of Java from your 8.2 discs, as that gives you a gcc 3.x compiled version of Java for use with the latest Mozilla, etc. You still should be able to get OO to work with what you have installed though. In your /home/<user> directory is a config file for OO and you should rid yourself of that first then run the setup again as you first start OO. Hmmm, my memory may be playing tricks on me too and you may have to reinstall Oo again for it to setup with your java, don't remember now. Either way, you should remove the .sversionrc file in your $HOME/ directory. I am recieving the error when i am trying to install the Open Office software from yast. It has not been installed yet. I do not have an 8.2 disc because this was an ftp install. Any other ideas? I think i may just install from source and see how that goes.
