the running kde is plain old 3.1 It has all the updates available from Yast, but no higher versions. If it means anything, my biostar board has an nvidia chipset, running with the latest dl from nvidia, both graphics [6106] and chipset [1.0274] my guess is that this is an obscure bug that will probably take luck to stumble into. In my case there is no need for a firefox restart, opening and closing the preferences does work, but only for one typing sequence, up to the next <enter> key. This is a strange one. Spent only about half hour looking for an answer, sorry if i missed it. I have lost the ability to type in a url, a google search keyword and any text anywhere in a firefox window. If i open and close the "preferences -fonts and colors" window, even without changes, i get to type once. After the <enter> key is clicked, the only thing that will allow typing within a firefox window is another opening of the preferences. Linux 9.0, latest upgrades thru yast, firefox .91. As a test, i cut and pasted ~./mozilla/firefox and firefox directories from my linux 9.1 installation (9.1 in hdd2, 9.0 in hda2), now i have the firefox9.1 bookmarks and settings but the text issue is still there. logging in as root also has no effect on the problem. does that suggest i need to look outside firefox for the fix?
Glad to see that I'm not the only one having this strange problem. Only way I can fix it is by restarting Firefox... Which KDE version are you running?
Regards Harry

One of my colleagues had that problem and it was caused by the numlock key being on. Try switching off numlock. On Friday 23 Jul 2004 10:18, plain wrote:
