Hi all, Quickie: when I do /etc/init.d/hylafax status on a SuSE 8.0 Pro server, I get "unused" What does this mean? Also, is there a place where I can look up the specific meanings of the different status indicators (i.e. "dead," "not running" ect.) Thanks Hans
Hi Hans,
Hi all,
Quickie: when I do
/etc/init.d/hylafax status on a SuSE 8.0 Pro server, I get "unused"
do you have HylaFAX installed? it could happen that the script wants to start it but it's not there...
What does this mean? Also, is there a place where I can look up the specific meanings of the different status indicators (i.e. "dead," "not running" ect.)
You could check the hylafax startup script itself and see the return codes. HTH, Martin

Yes, running too and working pretty hard, for the most part. Unfortunately it has a tendency to die every once in a while, for no apparent reason (nothing in the logs).
You could check the hylafax startup script itself and see the return codes. Right, where can I see what the return codes mean? :-)
Thanks Hans

Service not running.

Defined in '/etc/rc.status': | 0) echo -en "$rc_running" ;; # service running | 1) echo -en "$rc_dead" 1>&2 ;; # service dead (but has pid file) | 2) echo -en "$rc_dead" 1>&2 ;; # service dead (but has lock file) | 3) echo -en "$rc_unused" ;; # service not running | 4) echo -en "$rc_unknown" ;; # status is unknown -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
