Mine should be arriving shortly. I received the shipping notice this morning.
That was quick. The shipping notice was sent today at 1:55 AM and I received the box at 1:45 PM! This includes the time to get over the border into Canada. I'd say that's pretty good for something that was released today!!!

IF anyone else ordered there (Amazon ) please tell me you didn't get your copy already, or perhaps mine may yet be delivered before Nov 6 and they were just covering their butts in case they didn't get their copies til mid/late Nov. Else I really will cry ! They have yet to answer my query ... and of course, no "shipping" message has come thru my mailbox. -- j registered linux user #363029 Mornings: Evolution in action. Enjoy. Let us know how the sound setup goes. Especially MP3 playing. -- ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/

MP3 playing? Are you telling me MP3 decoders are built into SUSE 10 GM? Topic was 10.0 Box-version, not download version ;-)

?? Does this imply that the download version contains decoders and other material that SuSE/Novell withholds from the boxed set for legal reasons? Does that also apply to working xine or mplayer and the dcss stuff? Is there someplace SuSE-ish that I can download readymade rpms for those apps and components, without the usual visit to third parties? Just curious, thanks. Kevin (who just installed from the DVD and has hit only one tiny problem, so far)

Reverse. I had forgotten that they were talking about the boxed version which actually contains MP3 decoders and other such stuff which is not available in the *OSS* download version. The other download version should contain MP3, however.

I'm not sure about DeCSS. Is there DeCSS in the boxed version? (Question to others.)

The openSUSE.org wiki should have this info. YaST repositories. But if you got the box, then you won't need the repositories. I think.

And which was that? Did you install from the download DVD or the retail DVD? I'm still downloading the DVD now.

The sound setup seemed problematic for me. I have one of those odious on-board ATI IXP sound chips. Works okay, but I think my CD-ROM isn't connected to the sound card because I don't get audio when playing audio CDs. Other noises work just fine, though. I also bought an inexpensive USB audio stick that tries to emulate Dolby 5.1 sound. It has better sound quality than the on-board sound.
