A lot of functionality has been added to postfix lately. I've only been using it for about a year as an admin (had it running on my PC long before that but never really did anything more than tell Yast2 to install it) and I've seen a lot being added and improvements made. I'm not saying switch from sendmail, but for future reference it's worth keeping an eye on.
