Re: [SLE] sendmail vs postfix.
I'll take your side, until anyone else has anything to say about it.

Sendmail is one of the most insecure POS ever made. Windows ME would be more secure than sendmail.

FWIW: We run Postfix on the BLU server with virtual hosts and mailman,
and we are happy with it, but.....
A few years ago, when SuSE made Postfix the default, I was unable to
configure postfix the way I wanted it, so I switched back to sendmail.
Sendmail vs. postfix is kind of like EMACS vs. vi.

A lot of functionality has been added to postfix lately. I've only been using it for about a year as an admin (had it running on my PC long before that but never really did anything more than tell Yast2 to install it) and I've seen a lot being added and improvements made. I'm not saying switch from sendmail, but for future reference it's worth keeping an eye on. Of course, if this was the debian list you'd have a lot of people screaming "switch to exim" :-) -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy Newington Consulting Services hansdp at newingtoncs dot co dot za

Depends what religion you are :-) To compare vi with EMACS is like comparing MS-DOS to Linux. Actually, in the cases of postfix and sendmail there are many proponents of both, both are good.

Yes, quite a bit so. :) --Danny, typing this message with vim and sending it to a postfix MTA with mutt on Linux, rather than using EmacsOS for everything ;)
