[SLE] Midnight Commander and 6.4 evaluation version
mc from SuSE 6.4 evaluation version does not work here : segmentation fault. I tried recompiling it from the sources in 6.3 (mc-4.5.40) and 6.1 (mc-4.5.30) with glib 1.2.6 : it compiles nicely but same result (segmentation fault) when executing. However, this applies only in console mode. In a Xwindow terminal, both the mc from the 6.4 rpm and the one compiled by me it work correctly ! ideas, please !? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Me too. I just assumed that I missed something--it wouldn't work at all, even under X, until I dled the latest--and now I can get it under X (in a terminal), but NOT under straight console. On Mon, 19 Jun 2000, you wrote:

Try reinstalling ncurses...That did the trick for me, when I observed this problem. On 19-Jun-00 ZephyrQ wrote:

This hint was decisive. I took ncurses-4.2.tar.gz from the 6.3 sources, compiled and installed. Now mc works in console mode ! Thank you. On Mon, Jun 19, 2000 at 12:40:02PM -0400, Arlen Carlson wrote:

I just got an old HP9000 and compiled it there from the 6.4 sources. There was some "dependency" to an additional library, glib or something. Did you recompile these as well? I don't know what lib is was, but I think it's -despite the name- not the glibc. Juergen PS: just checked: my version is mc-4.5.42

Same here, but not quite. I got several segmentation faults from mc using the i386-precompiled kernel. Nowadays, I'm not doing anything before I compile a fresh kernel for my newly installed box. My guess is that there's something fishy with the pre-compiled i386-kernel SuSE made... Rogier Andrei Mircea wrote:
