Hi all, I got one of these little babies for Christmas, and I can access it using the latest version of gPhoto (which is now available at www.usr-local-bin.org) however, I can't figure out what format it uses for it's images. The user guide, and SiPix's website both say it's JPEG, but it seems that what is actually the case is that the Windows drivers convert whatever it actually is (they have the suffix .raw) to JPEG. Has anyone had any success with one of these cams, or knows what the format is, and of a Free Software utility that can either view it, or convert into something sensible? Neither EOG or the GIMP recognize it... This will give you some background information about the RAW format. http://www.dpreview.com/learn/Glossary/Digital_Imaging/RAW_Image_Format_01.h... I found this link by Googling for "raw image format linux" http://www2.primushost.com/~dcoffin/powershot/ I don't know if your particular camera is supported by this, but it is a sign that people are working on a solution. RAW just means raw as in 'unprocessed'. The format of the image data within the SiPix Blink has not been reverse engineered yet. Ciao, Marcus

Hi All, I just installed the mySQL DB, (no I did not use the ones on the CD but downloaded the ones from sourceforge release 3.23.51-1, both client and server, all RPMs..) Now when I try to use the same I get the following error: lancer:/home/nag # /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -p password 'root007' Enter password: (entered the same password as above) lancer:/home/nag # /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h lancer -p password 'root007' Enter password: (entered the same password as above /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'lancer' failed error: 'Host 'lancer' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server' I am clueless what the problem is.. the same commands did the trick earlier..??? Additionally when I use the mySQL Control centre from a win box I also get the same errors..> What did I do wrong ? Did I miss pon some vital step Cheers Vishal K

try PMView (windoz) and IView (windoz). PMView is excellent, used it in OS/2. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://home.indy.rr.com/paka @ http://counter.li.org icq#173753138

If I used Windows, I could use the bundled drivers, I don't. That site with a conversion utility for RAW files, didn't help, doesn't support the particular RAW format that this cam uses. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.1) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org
