I'm using GAIM to communicate with all of my multi-network friends, including Yahoo! Messenger users. I really like how functional and configurable GAIM is, but since I have the Yahoo! module installed, and since the module is so complete, I constantly see Yahoo! Mail notifications pop up on my screen and steal X focus. Does anyone know how I can disable the mail check or at least turn of grabFocus for *these* messages, but keep grabFocus for the IM window? -- -=|JP|=- Need a good geek? I'm unemployed! I haven't tested it personally, but according to what I've seen, yes. It would go something like this: 1) Start GAIM and head for the main Buddy List window 2) Go to Tools -> Plugins 3) Load libmsn.so, Close 4) Go to Tools -> Accounts 5) Click Add, enter your screenname, password 5a) Set protocol to "MSN", check Remember, Auto-login (to taste), OK 6) Select MSN account from the list, click on Sign On/Off, Close You should be fine. Oh, and please trim your signature to five lines or less. I have nothing against it's content, only it's size. -- -=|JP|=- Need a good geek? I'm unemployed! Not sure where you are, but first thing to do is find an NTP site, preferbly primary that allows public access, you can usually find these via google. To set it up so that this queries during bootup, find the line in /etc/rc.config that relates to xntp, this example here shows my config: # # Start XNTPD? (yes/no) # START_XNTPD="yes" # # Usually it's a good idea to get the current time and date # from some other ntp server, before xntpd is started. # If we should do so, provide a space-separated list of # ntp servers to query. # XNTPD_INITIAL_NTPDATE="ntp-cup.external.hp.com montpelier.ilan.caltech.edu" I have two setup for reduncy. If you just want to update once in awhile I suggest this line: ntpdate ntp-cup.external.hp.com Hope that helps, Matt

i'm in USA, Florida
# Start XNTPD? (yes/no) # START_XNTPD="yes" yes

As you point out, this is updates the time at boot. If your system stays up for more than a couple days at a time, you'll want to add server ntp-cup.external.hp.com to /etc/ntp.conf and probably restrict default ignore to keep the bad people from playing with your clock if you aren't blocking udp/123. -- -ckm
