SLES9 SCSI drives not visible in MS Virtual Server
Hi, I'm trying to help some people test SLES9/SUSE9 inside a MS Virtual Server virtual machine. Virtual Server can see the SCSI adapter, but not the SCSI drive. I was curious if anyone else had seen this. SLES9 will install using virtual IDE drives, but we were trying to see if SCSI drives were trully faster in the virtualized environment. Ubuntu also cannot see the SCSI drive, but Windows can - so I think it is a linux problem. SLES suggested installing from the "Update CD", which I'm in the process of locating. Will the "Update CD" use an alternate kernel that has better SCSI support? I saw on Google where some people were using the modprobe command with older versions of SUSE, in order to detect the adapter. This seemed weird because the adapter is detected (in YAST), but the SCSI drives do not seem to be found at all. This might be a MS problem (it's their Virtual Server software). Thanks for any help!
